Understanding
Urological Conditions

Urological health includes a wide range of conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, urethra, prostate, and reproductive organs. Some of the more common issues patients seek treatment for include:

Because patients often respond differently to standard medications, compounding allows providers to tailor the strength, formulation, and delivery method to each person’s needs.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED): A Personalized Approach

Erectile dysfunction is a sensitive, often overlooked health issue that affects men of all ages, especially those with diabetes, cardiovascular concerns, hormonal changes, or a history of prostate surgery. ED involves difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, which can influence overall well-being and intimate relationships.

Compounding can offer alternatives when commercial medications are not ideal, not tolerated, or not effective.

Treatment Options
for Erectile Dysfunction

Oral Medications

Many patients are familiar with FDA-approved options such as sildenafil (Viagra®) and tadalafil (Cialis®). In certain cases, providers may prescribe compounded versions of these medications:

Customized strengths

Combination therapies

Sublingual troches, which dissolve under the tongue for convenient use

Formulations for patients who cannot swallow tablets

These options may be helpful for individuals who experience side effects or inconsistent results from commercially available forms.

Trimix & Injectable ED Therapies

For men who do not respond to oral medications, or who need a more targeted therapy, injectable medications such as Trimix may be prescribed. These medications are compounded specifically for each patient’s needs.

What Is Trimix?

Trimix is a compounded injectable commonly made with three medications:

Alprostadil – supports increased blood flow

Papaverine – a vasodilator that helps relax smooth muscle

Phentolamine – helps maintain an erection by slowing blood outflow

Some individuals may be prescribed:

Bimix (two-drug formulation)

The exact formula is determined by the prescriber based on response and tolerability.
